Lineman electrocuted while working on high-voltage line

A Lancaster man was electrocuted on July 26 while conducting maintenance on an electrical line.

Bluegrass 911 received a call at 10:45 a.m. on July 26 reporting that a lineman had been injured.

Lincoln County Fire, EMS and Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene in the 1000 block of Harness Ridge road located in the Broughtentown community.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Steve Turner of Lancaster, was conducting maintenance on a high voltage electrical line while elevated in a bucket truck when he was electrocuted. Co-workers at the scene administered aid until EMS arrived. Turner was transported by Lincoln County EMS to Fort Logan Hospital where he was later pronounced dead by Lincoln County Coroner Farris Marcum.

The case remains under investigation by Detective Sgt. Michael Mullins.
