The Danville Police Department will conduct its Citizens Police Academy Sept. 5-Oct. 17. Classes will be held every Tuesday night from 6-8:30 p.m. There will be no class Oct. 3.

This is a unique learning opportunity that will provide an up-close look at the Danville Police Department. The curriculum will be interactive and include topics such as department overview, patrol activities, telecommunications, criminal investigations, response to resistance, active shooter, officer training, and crime scene processing.

All participants will have the opportunity to complete police-related scenarios, traffic stops, defensive tactics and simulations. The course is free.

Applications are available online. They can also be picked up at the Danville Police Department during business hours.
