Peggy Sue Lay, 65, passed away Monday, September 4, 2023. Peggy was born in Lexington, Kentucky on May 4, 1958, one of thirteen children of the late Harvey and Ruby Gill Stratton. She was the wife of 13 years to Durand Lay.
Peggy was a strong woman of God. She was a member of Mitchellsburg Church of God. She thoroughly enjoyed her Bible studies. Peggy was also a former CNA at a nursing home. Most of all, Peggy loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include three children, Mark Gastineau, Tina West, and Bobby Gastineau, three step-children, Justin Lay, Blake Lay, and Nikki Arrowsmith, six siblings, Jackie Lamb, Harvey Stratton, Kathy Carney, Barbara Jewell, Frances Montgomery, and Ruby Baker, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicky Sue Gastineau, daughter-in-law, Haley Stratton Gastineau, two grandchildren, Layne and Sawyer Gastineau, and several siblings.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Walden Funeral Home with Pastor Darrell Jewell Officiating. Visitations will be Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Walden Funeral Home.
