Kentucky’s 12th District State Sen. Amanda Mays Bledsoe (R) and 54th District State Rep. Daniel Elliott (R) visited Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center and Select Specialty Hospital located inside EMRMC on Tuesday.
During the visit, Bledsoe and Elliott met with Dan McKay, president and chief executive officer, and Dr. Lynne Warner Lynn, chief nursing officer at EMRMC. Both discussed the importance of EMRMC’s services to the population of the six-county service area, and they also shared future expansion and construction projects to better serve the communities. In addition, they discussed staffing issues that began during the COVID-19 Pandemic and how the healthcare system is addressing those issues.
The group was also joined by Jim Musser, senior vice president of Policy and Government Relations at the Kentucky Hospital Association, and Travis Burton, associate vice president of State Government Affairs at KHA. The group toured EMRMC’s Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department and Select Specialty Hospital.
Following those tours, the group met with Ephraim McDowell’s Senior Leadership Team and McKay presented Bledsoe with a KHA Hero Award in recognition of her tireless work to support Kentucky’s hospitals.
“We were very honored to host Senator Bledsoe and Representative Elliott today,” said McKay. “We were pleased to showcase the wonderful healthcare services that Ephraim McDowell provides to our communities while also discussing the challenges that health care faces.”
Senator Bledsoe, who lives in Lexington, represents Boyle, Mercer and Woodford counties as well as part of Fayette County. Elliott, who lives in Danville, represents Boyle and Casey counties.
