NEWS RELEASE

This week’s featured pets are Jenny and Jerry, two of our friendly Mutts with Manners dogs. DBCHS developed MWM in 2009 to provide one-on-one training and companionship for shelter dogs.

Carefully screened prison inmates are paired with shelter dogs for a program cosponsored by Northpoint Training Center in Burgin. Inmates, prison staff and volunteers work together to provide dogs with basic obedience training, socialization, and behavior modification.

Prison inmates live with their dogs in the dormitory and attend weekly sessions with an expert volunteer dog trainer. Dogs graduate with many valuable skills like sit, stay, down, and paw and have excellent recall (come when you call them). MWM do gs are confident and well-socialized and will make an ideal company for anyone.

Jenny & Jerry are looking for their forever families. They have been working VERY hard on their manners and behaviors and are good doggos.

Jenny is energetic and is very interested in everything that’s going on around her, and she’s a gorgeous gal, to boot. She likes other dogs but is bossy now and then.

Jerry is a very handsome, laid-back boy who loves to learn. Uniforms seem to make him nervous, but he enjoys meeting new people. Jerry will make a devoted companion for anyone and be the best buddy for life. Jerry is very good with other dogs.
