David W. (Dave) Moore, 78, of Danville, formerly of Streator, Illinois passed away peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2023. Born on October 28, 1944, he was the son of the late William J. and Lois M. Moore. Dave was a member of the SHS graduating Class of 1962. He attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. Dave was drafted into the United States Army in 1965, where he served in the Vietnam War as a code specialist and was honorably discharged in December of 1968. He was employed by R.R. Donnelley for 40 years as an electronic technician, 17 years in Dwight, Illinois until he and his wife, Kathy, and their sons moved to Danville in 1985, where he continued his employment in Danville, Kentucky. He was a Danville High School Swim Coach and in his spare time loved following his sons in swimming, football, and soccer. He enjoyed time spent on his pontoon and watching thoroughbred horse racing. In his retirement, Dave worked part-time at Lowes, where he enjoyed conversations and helping people find items they needed for their projects. He was also a lifelong member of VFW Post 1492 in Streator and joined the American Legion Post 46 in Danville. Dave is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Kathleen “Kathy” Moore; his 3 sons: Clint (Catherine) Moore of Florida, Tyler Moore of Lancaster, and Lucas “Luke” Moore of Danville; his brothers: Don (Carolyn) Moore and Craig (Judy) Moore, both of Illinois; his sister, Linda Moore, of Illinois; and his grandchildren: Cassidy, Cade, and Jabe Moore. Funeral service will be held Friday, October 27, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home in Moreland, KY with Bro. Brad King officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clint, Tyler, Luke, Cade, Jabe, and Cassidy Moore. The visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
