Adult D&D

Dungeons & Dragons is often called the greatest role-playing game of all time. The library offers a D&D club for adults that meets at the library on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. Adults can join a session on Sunday, Nov. 12 at noon or 4:30 p.m. No experience is necessary, but registration is required. To register, sign up at the library or via the event listing on the library’s website, or email library@boylepublib.org. (Ages 18+)

Baby Storytime

Join us on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. for a storytime just for babies. Each week, Ms. Rachael will read themed stories and have a sensory activity for babies from birth to 18 months and their caregivers to enjoy. Baby Storytime will be held in the Community Room, with the books and theme changing each week. (Ages 0-18 months)

YA Creative Club: Crafternoon

Join us each week for YA (Young Adult) Creative Club, where tweens and teens can try out fun creative projects, learn new writing skills and artistic techniques, share their work, and meet new creatively-minded friends. On Tuesday, Nov. 14 from 4-5:30 p.m., you’ll choose what you create at Crafternoon. Explore the library’s collection of artistic, writing, and crafting materials for inspiration, then let your imagination guide you to create something new and exciting to take home at the end of the day. This event will be held in the Community Room. (Ages 11-18)

Boyle County Writers

On Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 5:30 p.m., gather with fellow writers to practice your writing skills, share your work, and receive feedback from peers. Facilitated by local author Paul Stansbury, this monthly event will be held in the Conference Room at the library. (Ages 18+)

YA Gaming Guild: Players’ Pick

Calling all gamers! Join us at the library on Thursdays from 4-5:30 p.m. for YA Gaming Guild, where tweens and teens can relax, play games, have some snacks, and hang out with other gamers. This week, you and your fellow gamers will get to pick what you play from the library’s huge collection of board games, and multiplayer video games for the Nintendo Switch. New and returning gamers are always welcome. This event will be held in the Community Room. (Ages 11-18)

All Ages Char-Cute-erie Potluck

On Thursday, Nov. 16 from 6-8 p.m., share your favorite recipes and learn some new ones in the best way possible — by eating them with friends! The theme for this month is “Charcuterie for all ages.” The library will provide a sampling of charcuterie boards for adults and a build-your-own kid-friendly station for our younger guests. Participants will also get a crash-course in charcuterie assembly. Alethea Bruzek with the Boyle County Extension Office will get things started, but all are encouraged to bring something in. This is a social event with food to share, friends to be made, and fun to be had. This event will be held in the Community Room. (All ages)

Chess Club

On Saturday, Nov. 18 from 2-4 p.m., the library’s collection of chess boards will be set up in the Reading Room. This monthly club provides a dedicated time and quiet place for a friendly game of intellect and strategy. (All ages)

BCPL After Dark: Bad Art Holiday Cards & Centerpieces

Join us for a fun crafting event for adults at the library on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. At this BCPL After Dark event, you’ll use bits, pieces, and scraps to make Bad Art Holiday Cards and Centerpieces. You don’t have to be an artist to participate, in fact the less artistic, the better. This event will be held in the Community Room. (Ages 18+)

Revolutionary Threads Exhibit

This month, the library is hosting the Revolutionary Threads: Uniforms of Revolutionary War Patriot-Soldier Ancestors exhibit. Revolutionary Threads was organized by the Transylvania Chapter NSDAR to honor America250, the multi-year National Commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of American Independence 1776. The exhibit features uniforms from the 1776 2nd South Carolina Infantry; Fifers and Drummers; Green Mountain Rangers; General Washington’s Life Guard; and more. Revolutionary Threads is provided with generous support of National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Friends of Cartmell House, Pennye and Bob Willcutt, and members of Transylvania Chapter NSDAR in Lexington. The exhibit will be on display in the Georgia de Araujo Gallery at the library through November.
