Danville, Kentucky – Danville’s newest fast food joint, the highly anticipated Chick-fil-A, will have their grand opening on Dec. 7. A ribbon cutting will be held on Dec. 6at noon.
The South Danville Bypass entrance across from Starbucks will remain closed due to an ongoing dispute regarding utilities. The restaurant can be accessed via May Boulevard by Lowe’s. Signage will be posted to notify drivers and it is unknown when the road will opened.
“We anticipate that being a busy restaurant especially during the kickoff,” said Danville City Manager Earl Coffey. “We need to be proactive with safety signage.”
The city wants to avoid accidents due to traffic congestion in the area.
“We really want to avoid someone pulling into the new road, seeing it is closed, and backing out onto the bypass. That is a worse case scenario,” said Danville City Engineer Josh Morgan.
For several years, the Chick-fil-A food truck was a regular site around Danville on Fridays, and many of its former patrons are eagerly awaiting the opening of the permanent restaurant.
“I think it’s wonderful. We are so blessed to be getting one full time. We really appreciate the food truck coming here and accommodating us every Friday,” said Danville resident Tammie Devine. “Danville needs to grow, it is big enough to. There are a lot of great restaurants out there we would like to see.”
The Chick-fil-A is just the first part of a multi-business development next to Lowe’s. The majority of construction in the area so far has been preparing infrastructure for future development. So far no other businesses are confirmed for the development.
