From Jan. 20 through Jan. 30 Danville’s Caldwell house will be the set for the upcoming Christmas comedy film “Home-less for the Holidays.” The film is scheduled to be released in the 2024 holiday season and stars former WWE wrestler Al Snow. Snow’s character, Kentucky Joe, along with a group of seven other misfits, witness the death of a wealthy man who lives in a mansion. The group plans to stay in his home for Christmas and convince the mansion’s staff that they are the long-lost relatives of the mansion’s owner.

“Death isn’t usually used for comedy but it is still a nice fun comedy for the family,” said writer and director Whit Whitman. “We want it to come out around Thanksgiving.”

Whitman is a Danville resident with more than 10 years of experience in the film industry. During his career, he has worked on numerous films both as an actor and a crew member. He has crewed blockbuster films such as “Ant-Man and the Wasp” and “The Fate of the Furious”.

It will be Whitman’s third film made in Danville. He returned to Danville to make films two years ago when the Kentucky Entertainment Incentive Program began. The KEI program aims to develop a film and entertainment industry in Kentucky by offering tax incentives for filming.

Whitman is the CEO of Little Monster Entertainment Inc., a company that produces and distributes films from local filmmakers to a global audience. To help fund projects, Little Monster relies on community donations and sponsorships.

“Everyone always wants cash sponsorships but we take donations like Christmas decorations to help with props that we use,” Whitman said. “Movies are really expensive to make. Even on my low end our budget is usually between 25 and 50 thousand dollars. We also have the Community Film Collaborative which is our non-profit. We teach kids film making. One of my options for sponsorships is that you can make donations to that charitable organization for tax write offs.”
