Dorothy Evelyn Fox Pruitt, 98, of Moreland went to her heavenly home on Tuesday morning, January 9, 2023. Born January 6, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Kinder and Betty Nicholson Fox.

In addition to her parents, Dot was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Vaughan Dirck Pruitt; brother, David Fox; sister, Edith Marlowe; nephews, Ronnie Fox and Sammy Marlowe; and nieces, Betty Branham and Judi Fox.

Dot was a life-long Methodist, growing up in Moreland Methodist Church. At different times in her life, she had served the church in many capacities: Sunday School teacher, church choir, president of the WSCS (Women’s Society of Christian Service), both locally and Danville district president, chairman of Pastor Parish Committee, church treasurer, and working in the nursery. She was so excited when Westside was built and Moreland UMC and Ellisburg UMC combined to form the new church.

During the past 15 years, as her health no longer allowed her to attend in person, she continued to look for ways to serve. She sent birthday and anniversary cards to all members of Westside and remained a faithful prayer warrior until God called her home.

She worked many years at the Boyle County Stockyards, first as a clerk and later as bookkeeper and office manager. Along with Dirck, she had owned and operated W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home. She remained a valuable resource for Karen and Tony after Dirck’s death.

Dot is survived by her only child, Karen (Bob) Floro of Moreland; grandchildren, Tony (Jessica) Floro of Moreland and Mike (Lesley) Floro of Mercer County; five great-grandchildren: Gabriel Floro, Bella Floro, Mia Floro, Lucca Floro, and Mox Floro; sister, Nancy (Henry) Blanks of Memphis; niece, Barbara Rush of Ohio; and nephew, Keith Blanks of Tennessee; and 10 great-nieces and nephews: Robin (Greg) Hughes, Amber (Darrell) Estes, Melissa (Reid Talley) Marlowe, Matthew Marlowe, Jeff (Krista) Rush, Eddie (Sue) Rush, Tammy (Steve) Herms, Allison (Lee) Stone, David (Haley) White, and Nikki (Holden) Kidd.

The visitation is 2-5 pm Saturday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 2 pm Sunday at Westside Community Church in Moreland with Pastors Faron Owen and Bob Coppings officiating. The pallbearers are Tony Floro, Mike Floro, Gabriel Floro, Lucca Floro, Mox Floro, Keith Blanks, David White, and Brent Ellis. Honorary pallbearers are Brenda R. Ellis, Cynthia Kirkpatrick, Betty Terrell, and Bobby and Brenda H. Ellis. A Guestbook is available at www.wlpruitt.com.
