Boyle County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from the Lincoln County Sheriffs Office on the whereabouts of Charles McElroy, who is wanted on multiple active warrants. Deputies responded to the 8000 block of Lebanon Road, but were unable to locate the suspect. Deputies spoke to multiple people in the area advising them of the wanted subject. Deputies also learned that McElroy had just shoplifted from Dollar General.

At approximately 8:15 p.m., Danville 911 dispatched a deputy to the area of the Dollar General in Parksville, in reference to the wanted subject. The deputy located Charles McElroy walking next to Lebanon Road and was able to positively identify him. As the deputy attempted to make contact, McElroy fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, McElroy was taken into custody.

McElroy gave deputies false identifying information even after being positively identified and called by name. McElroy was transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for a medical clearance from a previous incident, not related to law enforcement. While in the hospital, McElroy became extremely disruptive by shouting obscenities and making threats against the deputies.
