The Danville-Boyle County Tourism Office has launched a new website to provide an array of information to visitors planning a trip to central Kentucky. Locals will also find this new website useful as well.

The new website – found at www.danvillekentucky.com – went live on Tuesday, Jan. 16, replacing the former website that was found at that same address.

Information about places for visitors to stay, eat and explore carry over to the new website, but with an expansion of restaurant listings by category so that every restaurant in town is included, from fast food to locally owned eateries to chain sit down restaurants.

“Each restaurant listing includes information about what type of food they serve, as well as phone numbers, websites and even links to Facebook pages, if they have one,” said Kendall Clinton, executive director of the tourism office. “If you are using your mobile phone and don’t know how to find a particular restaurant, or any business with a listing on the website, just click on the red pin on the map with the listing and get directions from wherever you are.”

The events page on the new website contains a calendar with other useful information, like details about upcoming performances at the Norton Center and Pioneer Playhouse, live music scheduled at venues around town, local festivals and many other happenings that might be of interest to visitors and local residents.

All of the content from the news page carried over from the old website and will continue to be updated regularly with more detailed information about upcoming events, suggestions for things to do in Danville and Boyle County, and other useful pieces of information to help everybody learn more about the community and what it has to offer.

And for anybody interested in holding a wedding here or bringing individuals or groups to town for a reunion, meeting or other gathering, there are listings for all the various venues that are available locally.

“It’s not unusual for people or organizations to contact our office to ask about space for rent that can be used for a gathering of a social organization – like the Kentucky Road Riders motorcycle group, who are returning to Danville again in August – a family reunion, a meeting of a professional organization or various other groups,” Clinton said. “Having wedding and meeting spaces available throughout the county – and being able to list those all in one place – makes it easier to promote Danville and Boyle County to anybody looking for a great location to hold a small to medium-sized gathering. When people contact us, we can now point them to the “Gather” page on our website and they can scroll through all of our available options and decide what venue works best for their needs. Hopefully it will lead to new visitors coming to town.”

The “Experiences” page is another new feature on the website, where ideas for various themed tours and visits will be offered. That page, like most other pages on the website, will continue to grow and be expanded to include new experience recommendations.

There is now also a page that lists available transportation options for those visiting or who live locally and don’t have access to an automobile. Want to know where to look for live music? There is a page detailing the restaurants, bars and other venues that host live music.

Along with new features, the tourism office’s website continues to provide details about local lodging – from hotels to Bed & Breakfast venues to online vacation rentals – as well as listings for places to visit.

The tourism office’s new website was built by Kentucky-based Red Pixel Studios, which works with a variety of businesses and industries, including several other tourism offices around the state. All content on the website is gathered, uploaded and managed by staff at the Danville-Boyle County Tourism Office.

The website is mobile friendly, so searching it from your smartphone is just as easy as it is from a computer.

If you have a local business that is included in one of the categories at www.danvillekentucky.com and would like to request any changes to your listing, send an email to cvb@historicdanvilleky.com.
