Main Street Perryville is hosting two Galentine’s Day events this Saturday and next Saturday, Feb. 3 and 10 from about 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Participants can visit the stores in downtown Perryville to get their wish lists for Valentine’s Day and sample some chocolate along the way.

“This is a brand new event,” said Main Street Perryville Director Aly Huff. “After having such success with our Christmas event, the merchants and our community were eager to have more downtown shopping events. We hope to see everyone there.”

The Feb. 3 event will be centered around spending time with gal friends. Stores throughout downtown will be running specials, and there will be free photo opportunities throughout the town. Some of the participating businesses include The Barrel Boutique, The Blended Tribe, The Flower Basket, and others.

There will be a chocolate crawl that’s free to participate in, and passports can be picked up at The Flower Basket and The Vintage Prep. For those 21 and older who finish the passport, they will be entered in a drawing for a date night basket.

On Feb. 10, significant others can visit downtown and shop using the wish lists. Stores will offer specials and there will be another passport available at The Flower Basket and The Vintage Prep. There will be a bourbon gift set drawing for those who complete the passport.

Galentine’s day is a trending holiday that first appeared in the NBC television series “Parks and Recreation.” In the episode titled “Galentine’s Day”, the main character Leslie Knope, portrayed by actress Amy Poehler, holds an annual Galentine’s Day party for her female friends the day before Valentine’s Day.

The idea caught on and began trending nationally on social media in 2017. Galentine’s Day merchandise and specials are offered by businesses and restaurants nationwide.
