Bluegrass Newsmedia has announced that Fiona Morgan is the new editor of the Danville Advocate-Messenger and Stanford Interior Journal. 

Morgan was previously a reporter at the Advocate-Messenger, starting the role in November 2021. She also served as interim editor of the Advocate-Messenger and Interior Journal from April to June 2022. 

Morgan has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Asbury University. Before starting at the newspaper, she worked as a freelance reporter, and as a news editor at the Asbury Collegian, a student newspaper. 

Bluegrass Newsmedia consists of seven newspapers – the Advocate-Messenger, Interior Journal, Winchester Sun, Harlan Enterprise, Jessamine Journal, Middlesboro News, and the Claiborne Progress.

Warren Taylor has been promoted to Executive Editor at Bluegrass Newsmedia, and will oversee the Winchester Sun, Harlan Enterprise, and Jessamine Journal. Morgan’s title will be Associate Editor at Bluegrass Newsmedia. 

“Fiona brings over two years of experience as a reporter to the role, and served as interim editor in the past,” Taylor said. “The people of Boyle and Lincoln counties know her outstanding work as a reporter, and now they will see her exciting vision for the Advocate-Messenger and Interior Journal. I’m excited to work with her to ensure that we continue to add to the proud histories of both papers.”

Morgan is excited to continue reporting on important local news, and keeping people informed on what’s happening in the community.

A native of Wheaton, Illinois, Morgan enjoys photography and art, learning about local history, and going on hikes and road trips.

Bluegrass Newsmedia President and Publisher Jeff Kuerzi said the paper is here to help make connections.

“The connections that I’ve enjoyed making as publisher via Rotary Club and other groups will continue,” Kuerzi said. “Adding to them, to engage even more of the community will be a big part of Fiona’s role as associate editor.” 

“We want to hear from you and encourage letters to the editor (the link is on our website),” he continued. “We want the community to send photos of events, send us information that we need to know about and utilize the community calendar. I’m really pleased that Fiona is in this important role for the Danville and Stanford communities.”

The Advocate-Messenger has a new office space as of January, located at 463 S. Fourth Street. The building is right in front of the newspaper’s previous location.
