The Federal Aviation Administration is awarding two grants to airports in Kentucky: $294,000 to the Danville-Boyle County Airport Stuart Powell Field in Danville; and $379,620 to Barkley Regional Airport in Paducah.

The funding will help overhaul critical infrastructure at both airports. Both federal grants are funded through the Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG) Program, established in the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).

The IIJA was passed by the U.S. Senate in 2021, and the president signed the bill into law. The IIJA gives Kentucky billions of federal dollars over five years to improve the Commonwealth’s roads, bridges, railroads, river ports, airports, broadband, and more.

“Kentuckians deserve to travel with peace of mind, trusting that their airports are both safe and resilient enough to meet growing demand. That’s why I’ve proudly advocated for federal investments into airports of all sizes across the Commonwealth,” said Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY). “I’m pleased to see the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act continue to deliver more wins for my home state so Kentucky’s communities are equipped with the resources they need to grow, thrive, and serve the Commonwealth.”
