Dorcas Blackwell

Dorcas Irene Blackwell went to be with the Lord on February 9, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on March 7, 1944, to the late Elige and Martha Woodall in Mt. Vernon, KY. Dorcas dedicated her life to spreading love and selflessly caring for others. She was the widow of Ronald “Ronnie” Blackwell, the love of her life for more than 54 years.

Dorcas was a remarkable server and caregiver, known for her unwavering dedication to her family. She lovingly took care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always there to answer their needs and ensure their happiness. Her kindness extended beyond her immediate family as well, always ready to lend a helping hand and cook for anyone in need. Dorcas served many as their nurse in Outpatient Surgery at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center and at the Danville Pain Clinic.

A member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Dorcas found solace and strength in her faith. She was a woman of deep conviction, guiding her life with compassion and serving as an example to others. Her presence will be profoundly missed by her church family, who relied on her unwavering faith and support.

Dorcas will be lovingly remembered by her children, Shonna (Paul) Rice, Ronnie (Tamra) Blackwell, Jr., and Tommy Blackwell, her grandchildren Noah Blackwell, Joshua Blackwell, Malia Blackwell, Jennifer (Jimmy) Hazlett, Amanda (Daren) Reichle, Ashley (Jordan) Morrow, Chad (Tabitha) Blackwell, Christian Blackwell, and Cobey (Kaley) Blackwell, great-grandchildren Dallas Preston, Elias Hazlett, Sadie Hazlett, Nora Hazlett, Cruz Blackwell, Cash Blackwell, Aliyah Wray, Alyssa Wray, Amy Reichle, Mia Reichle, Ellie Hazlett, and Corbyn Blackwell, her siblings Jewell Shearer and Elmer Woodall, and many nieces and nephews. Her legacy will live on through her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City, with Jimmy Hazlett officiating. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 p.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Blackwell, Jr., Tommy Blackwell, Paul Rice, Noah Blackwell, Joshua Blackwell, Chad Blackwell, Christian Blackwell, Cobey Blackwell, Dallas Preston, and Elias Hazlett. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery with her husband.
