Barbara Atwood, 86, of Junction City passed away in Wildwood, Missouri (St. Louis) on Friday, February 16, 2024.

Born December 16, 1937, she was the daughter of the late J.W. and Lula Johnson Toombs. Barbara had recently moved to Wildwood to be close to her family. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Herlin Eugene Atwood; brothers, Gerald and James; and sister, Nancy Jane. Barbara had several careers during her lifetime, but at her core was a wife, a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was happiest taking care of and spending time with her family. Her and Herlin owned and operated Atwood’s Driving Range in Junction City for nearly 30 years. She and Herlin could always be found mowing, picking up golf balls, and keeping their property in immaculate condition.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Stuart (Kimberly Keller) of Ocala, Florida and Jeffrey (Laurel) Atwood of St. Louis; sisters: Sara (Lou) Gulley of Lexington and Joan Hafley of Hustonville; brother: John Wayne (Beverly) Toombs of Moreland; and 4 grandchildren: Logan (Dan) Huff of Lexington, Peyton Atwood of Lexington, Ryan Atwood and Reese Atwood, both of St. Louis; and 2 great grandchildren, Palmer Huff and Jackson Huff, both of Lexington.
