During the Danville City Commission meeting on Monday, officials said that community agency applications have not been sent out yet, as the city is currently reviewing the process in which it provides funding for community agencies, such as food pantries and non-profit organizations.

City Manager Earl Coffey explained that the goal is to streamline the way that agencies communicate with the city, county, and other organizations like Heart of Kentucky United Way. Coffey will provide more information on the updated process at the next city commission meeting.

The commission approved the second reading of Ordinance 2026. The ordinance is an amendment of the 2023-24 fiscal year budget, and will allot $340,000 from the general fund to help the Economic Development Authority with property acquisition.

The ordinance additionally moves $1.1 million in funding for the Streetscape project that went unused last year to this year. An additional $15,000 will be moved to the museum fund to cover the cost of unexpected HVAC system repairs at the Art Center’s Old Federal Building. Finally, an additional $15,000 will go towards security and water damage repairs at the parking garage.

In other news from the meeting, the commission passed the following resolutions:

• The commission voted to rename the Baughman Avenue extension to Emma’s Way.
• A renewal of the city’s brokerage agreement with Peel and Holland Inc. for a cost of $53,599, a five percent increase from last year.
• The commission approved a fee of $750 for its members to receive three hours of training from the Kentucky League of Cities.
• The commission has approved a contract for Springfield Laundry to provide cleaning services for the city, such as cleaning rugs and some city uniforms. The contract ends in June 2026 and will have a yearly cost to the city of $28,711.
• The commission approved a one-year renewal of the beautification contract with Devine Creations Landscape Management. The cost is $78,885.
• The city has approved an annual renewal of their cemetery maintenance contract with Cutting Edge Lawn Service for a fee of $168,000.
