Danville High School student Angel Aquino placed in the Top 3 of the American Bankers Association’s national “Lights, Camera, Save!” video contest.

Aquino’s “Stock Market” video, featuring friend and classmate Zadeen Fischer as the actor, focuses on the importance of investing wisely. The video was entered into the national contest by Farmers National Bank of Danville, Ky., after “Stock Market” won first place in the bank’s preliminary Central Kentucky contest.

“Stock Market” was selected for third place in the nation out of video submissions from 350 participating banks in 47 states and Washington, D.C.

“This is a great opportunity for students to engage in important conversations about money management while doing so in a fun and creative way,” said Marty Gibson, President & CEO of Farmers National Bank. “This is the first year Farmers National Bank has hosted the program, and we were very impressed with the quality of the entries we received. It’s exciting to have a local student recognized for their talent.”

Aquino, an aspiring filmmaker, learned about the contest from DHS teacher Brent Beauman, who teaches media arts at the school.

“When making the video, the stock market seemed to be something that I could easily portray and I wanted to make it visually stimulating,” Aquino said.

Aquino’s “Stock Market Video” is available for viewing on the Farmers National Bank YouTube page.

“Lights, Camera, Save!” encourages teenagers – 13 to 18 years of age – to create a video with a length of 30 seconds or less that demonstrates the value of using money wisely. The contest is open to teen filmmakers of all experience levels. Information about the “Lights, Camera, Save!” program is available on the American Bankers Association website.

Farmers National Bank is planning the 2024 contest, which will begin this fall.
