Mercer’s Drakeford, Lincoln’s Jackson win KABC regional awards

Anna Drakeford of Mercer County was named the 12th Region Girls Player of the Year and a Miss Basketball finalist by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches.
Drakeford is the third Mercer player in seven years to win the award, joining Timberlynn Yeast (2023) and Seygan Robins (2018).
Drakeford closed the regular season ranked first in the 12th Region and fourth in the state in scoring with 25.9 points per game. She led the Lady Titans in field goal percentage (.540) and free throw percentage (.742) and assists (5.5) and was second in rebounds (6.3).
The 5-8 senior, who recently signed with Thomas More, became the second-leading scorer in program history last week. She finished the regular season with 2,127 points, 633 rebounds and 508 assists.
Jeff Jackson of Lincoln County was named the KABC 12th Region Boys Coach of the Year.
Jackson, who last won the award in 2015, led the rebuilding Patriots to a 16-12 regular-season record and the No. 2 seed in the 45th District Tournament, which began Monday.
