The Perryville City Council approved a zoning recommendation from the Danville-Boyle County Planning and Zoning Commission at their meeting on March 7. The property at 225 South Buell Street has been changed from two-family residential to central business.

The council passed a resolution to have ownership of the pedestrian walking bridge over the Chaplin River. Ownership is moving from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to the City of Perryville.

The council has approved the use of American Rescue Plan Act funding to convert the city’s public works building into a partial fire station. This is done to ensure that the city will have a fire engine on both sides of the river.

Mayor Rob Kernodle addressed a rumor that Perryville’s post office was facing closure. Kernodle reached out to Congressman James Comer’s office who confirmed that there are no plans to close the facility.

With the ongoing waterline project along Perryville Road and recent boil water advisories in Perryville, Kernodle recommended that residents ensure that they have updated contact info with Danville utilities to receive text notifications for boil water advisories.
