Solarize Boyle hosting opening event Monday
Published 5:10 pm Saturday, March 16, 2024
The Boyle County Fiscal Court, Danville City Commission and Kentucky Solar Energy Society are partnering to offer Solarize Boyle, a program that will give area homeowners, small businesses, farms, governmental organizations, and non-profit organizations, the ability to obtain discounted rates on solar installations. Solarize Boyle makes it easier to invest in renewable energy by connecting participants with pre-screened solar installers and by providing access to bulk purchase discounts (up to 15%).
Danville Mayor Atkins said, “This is another example of a public/private partnership aimed at improving the quality of life of our citizens.”
The program officially opens on Monday, March 18, with a 10:30 AM ceremony at Weisiger Park. Judge Executive Trille Bottom and Danville Mayor J.H. Atkins will introduce the program along with Patrick Ferrell representing KYSES. Our selected vendors, Solar Energy Solutions and Solar Hollar will also be represented. Sign-ups will then go live on the Boyle County website. Many opportunities will be offered through the spring and summer for the community to learn about solar and how it might reduce your electric bill while improving our community.
More information and the link to express interest can be found at the Solarize Boyle campaign website here.
Solarize Boyle is open to all homeowners in Boyle County and its six surrounding counties (Garrard, Lincoln, Casey, Marion, Washington, and Mercer) as well as small businesses, places of worship, non-profit organizations, farm operations, and governmental agencies. A 30% Federal Tax Credit is available for solar PV installations to businesses and homeowners and is now also available to non-profits, schools, and government agencies in the form of direct payments.
