Boyle boys win regional archery title

Boyle County won the boys team championship at the 9th Region archery tournament Saturday in Nicholasville.

Boyle outscored runner-up Mercer County by 13 points to win the title at Providence Activity Center. Garrard County was third, one point behind Mercer.

Mercer’s Rylan Genco won the boys individual championship with a score of 295 of a possible 300, edging runner-up Hayden Martin of Boyle County by two points. Wade Stallard (288) of Boyle was fifth.

The Boyle girls were second in their team competition, finishing 15 points behind Pulaski County and one point ahead of third-place Lincoln County.

Chloe Pope and Delaney Combs of Lincoln were fourth and fifth in the girls individual standings.

The top two teams will advance to the state championships April 16 in Lexington, along with the top three individuals not advancing with a team.
