The Boyle County Fiscal Court, Danville City Commission, and Kentucky Solar Energy Society have partnered to launch Solarize Boyle. They hosted a launch party on Monday at the Art Center.

Solarize Boyle is a program that aims to assist homeowners, small businesses, farmers, and non-profit organizations in Boyle and six surrounding counties to install solar panels on their homes or buildings at discounted rates.

“It has been quite the process,” said Judge Executive Trille Bottom. “We are so excited to see what Solarize Boyle will do for Boyle County.”

The program utilizes the services of two solar companies, Solar Energy Solutions and Solar Hollar. Patrick Ferrell, a lead representative from the Solar Energy Society emphasized that both companies have been thoroughly vetted for quality work by certified installers using high quality materials. He emphasized that neither company will ever utilize door-to-door sales or pushy sales tactics.

“Solar is not going to be right for everyone in every situation,” Farrell said. “If it is, these are two companies that have been vetted by third parties. This campaign is supposed to be a simple home improvement project with reputable companies.”

Solarize Boyle will provide a pre-screening of your home to determine if solar is viable. In addition, they will connect you with the installers and provide a step-by-step explanation of the procedure.

Farrell explained that those who adopt solar can expect to have their electricity bill entirely covered by the energy provided by the panels. He said the Solar Energy Society hopes to have around 50 people install solar panels in response to the program.

“Solar is still a relatively large financial decision,” Farrell said. “Not everyone is going to adopt solar. This program is low-pressure, simple information. It may not be right for you but it is discounted with a reputable company, so this is going to be your best look with no obligation to buy.”
