Ben Vest, Jr.

Ben F. Vest, Jr., 77, of Danville, passed away April 13, 2024 at VA Hospital in Lexington. He was born on August 9, 1946 to the late Ben, Sr. and Marie Manning Vest. 

Ben was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce Hurt Vest. Ben graduated from Danville High School and was a proud US Air Force veteran. He worked as a Postmaster and in the restaurant industry for many years. Ben was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. He was an avid sports fan and loved nothing more than Danville Admirals and Kentucky Wildcats. Ben spent many hours refereeing and umpiring. He loved announcing football games on the radio with Charlie Perry. 

He is survived by one son, Scott Vest (Betty) of Danville, one daughter, Dawn Semones (Mike) of Danville; a brother, Sam Vest (Debby) of Danville; a brother-in-law, Glenn Hurt (Pat) of Stanford, grandchildren, Austin Vest (Dakota) of Danville, Chase Semones of Danville, Josh Summers of Casey County and Dustin Summers (Kimmy) of Hustonville and great grandchildren, Vivian and Statham Summers.

Funeral services will be 11 am Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home with Bro. Barry Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM April 16, 2024 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Austin Vest, Chase Semones, Dustin Summers, Blake Lay, Patrick Johnson, and Sherman Camden.
