Joint investigation leads to narcotic seizure

Deputies of the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office, along with officers of the Harrodsburg Police Department, conducted a drug investigation that led to a traffic stop on Hubble Road near Lancaster Road on April 10.

During the traffic stop, deputies/officers learned that the passenger of the vehicle, identified as Shannon Penman, had an active warrant for his arrest. Shannon Penman was placed in custody and a search incident to arrest was performed. During the search of Penman, deputies/officers located approximately 4 ounces of methamphetamine. Located in the vehicle was a significant amount of cash, several empty distribution baggies, and a methamphetamine pipe.

Penman was arrested and transported to the Boyle County Detention Center to be lodged. During the strip search process, deputy jailers located a small baggie of suspected fentanyl on Penman’s person. The Boyle County Sheriff’s Office took custody of the baggie.

Shannon Penman, of Lancaster, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 2nd Offense (Methamphetamine)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Drug Unspecified)
  • Promoting Contraband 1st Degree
  • Drug Paraphernalia.

Deputies also served a Parole Warrant on Penman.
