State Representative Daniel Elliott (R-Danville) announced more than $20 million in state funding returning to Boyle County to invest in the community and local infrastructure.

“Boyle County is set to receive a strong return on investment from our state tax dollars,” Elliott said. “House Bill 1 is returning over $1 million to invest directly into our community and will help bolster our local economy.”

The funding includes the following from HB 1, legislation that makes one-time investments towards paying down public pension liabilities, improving water infrastructure, and preparing rural areas for economic development opportunities:

• $850,000 in FY 2025 to the City of Perryville for the restoration of the Dye House on the grounds of the Perryville Battlefield.
• $600,000 in FY 2025 to the Danville-Boyle County Airport for Stuart Powell Field.

The community will also see improvements in local roads, as the state road plan provides:

• $15,000 in FY 2025 for guardrails on KY-37
• $780,000 in FY 2024 for the correction of vertical alignment on US-127
• $6,850,000 in FY 2025 to reconstruct portions of KY-52
• $1,414,705 in FY 2026 to improve safety by demolishing and reconstruction of the Buster Pike Bridge on KY-2168
• $1,250,000 in FY 2024 and $2,250,000 in FY 2025 to improve safety on KY-34
• $2,250,000 in FY 2024 to widen Goggins Lane on HWY-2168
• $1,500,000 in FY 2025 for a planning study to improve safety on KY-52
• $1,500,000 in FY 2026 to improve roadway geometry on KY-34
• $750,000 in FY 2025 to improve US-68.

“The investment into our county and local roadways will drive us forward and help our area continue to thrive,” Elliott said. “Road funding is extremely important to keeping our community connected and gives thousands of people from around the state and nation the opportunity to enjoy what our region has to offer.”

Lawmakers continued their efforts to ensure taxpayer dollars are invested in the best manner possible, changing the way the state provides funding for local road projects to ensure projects are awarded based on priority, rather than politics. House Joint Resolution 92 includes $110,000 for Boyle County.

Lawmakers adjourned the 2024 Regular Session on Monday, April 15, after passing more than 200 pieces of legislation that includes bills and resolutions aimed at strengthening educational opportunity, providing law enforcement with more tools, and investing in local communities to increase access to jobs.

While the legislature will not reconvene to act on legislation until January of 2025, lawmakers will hold interim committee meetings throughout the year. These meetings will focus on monitoring how legislation is being implemented and researching issues for the next session.
