The Danville-Boyle County Parks and Recreation Department has opened new additions to two community parks. New playgrounds have been installed and are now open for public use at Cowan Street Park and Jackson Park.

Both playgrounds were received, in part, from the Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant from the Kentucky Department of Local Government.  New amenities like benches, shade, and trash receptacles are to be added soon.

Michael M Smith Park improvements are still underway. The wet weather has slowed progress according to the city, but it is still on-track for an early summer re-opening.
