Plaid Elephant Bookstore in Danville is celebrating Independent Bookstore Day on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Independent Bookstore Day is a lovely made-up holiday that is cheerfully celebrated by hundreds of bookstores across the country each year on the last Saturday in April.  It is a chance for indie stores to celebrate the loyal bookstore patrons that keep brick-and-mortar shops alive and thriving in an era of online domination.

Plaid Elephant Books is celebrating all day long with free swag (like advance reader copies of books, stickers, coloring books, and more) and a chance to purchase indie-exclusive bookish merch. The first five people to spend $60, will receive a free tote bag and the person who finds the Golden Ticket hidden in the store will win a year’s worth of audiobook downloads.
