Danville Police conducted a traffic stop on a silver Toyota Tundra for an equipment violation on Sunday, April 21 at 11:10 p.m.

The driver was identified as 48-year-old Chris Steward and the passenger as 23-year-old Kierran Lyttle.  During the stop officers had reason to believe the vehicle contained narcotics.

A probable cause search was initiated and both Steward and Lyttle were removed from the truck.  It was during this time that Lyttle attempted to flee from officers on foot.  Lyttle was quickly apprehended after a brief foot chase and brought under control after officers deployed a taser.

Steward was transported to the Boyle County Detention Center and lodged on the following charges: trafficking cocaine, trafficking heroin, possession of marijuana, rear license plate not illuminated, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and assault 3rd degree (police officer).

Lyttle was also lodged in the Boyle County Detention Center on the following charges: possession of marijuana, fleeing/evading police 2nd degree (on foot), possession of a controlled substance (heroin).
