Boyle’s Claunch, Owens second at regional bass fishing tourney

Brayson Claunch and Cameron Owens of Boyle County finished second Saturday in the boys division of the 3rd Region bass fishing tournament on Green River Lake near Campbellsville.

Teams are allowed to count five fish at the weigh-in, and Claunch and Owens’ best five fish totaled 18 pounds, 11 ounces.

Keenan Stewart and Coleman Stewart also finished in the top five at 14-0.

There were four other local teams among the 17 boys teams that qualified for the state tournament May 10-11 on Kentucky Lake:

  • Stan Carnes and John Scott Carnes of Danville Christian, sixth place.
  • Landon Pierce and Korbin Neat of Casey County, 11th.
  • Riley Preston and Kyler Cluanch of Boyle, tied for 15th.
  • Eli Childers and Walker Johnson of Casey, 17th.

Ashlen Young and Lydia Turner of Boyle finished third out of five entries in the girls division, and Allie Addison and Abigail Short of Boyle were fourth and won the girls big bass award at 2-10.

All five girls’ entries qualified for the state tournament.
