Danville to construct sidewalk on Baughman Avenue

Published 3:45 pm Thursday, May 16, 2024

Increased traffic and concerns for pedestrian safety have revealed a great need for a sidewalk along Baughman Avenue in Danville. The cooperation of property owners (residents), utility providers, and city leaders has been crucial to moving the project forward in recent years.

Due to the location of utilities, the Baughman Avenue Sidewalk will be located on the north side of the street from Hustonville Road to Alexander Drive. A mini-roundabout will be constructed at the Waveland Ave intersection, meant to eliminate serious crashes and slow traffic. Construction of the sidewalk is expected to begin in late 2024 or early 2025.

The estimated cost of the Baughman Avenue Sidewalk Project is $500,000. The City of Danville has pursued and been approved to receive a KYTC Transportation Alternatives Program Grant, which will reimburse approximately $400,000 of the total cost.
