William “Bill” Lonzie Johnson, 87, died on May 28, 2024. He was born in Junction City, Kentucky, on November 21, 1936, to the late William Dewey and Mary Simpson Johnson. William was a 1954 graduate of Junction City High School. After two years in the army, he went to work for IBM in Lexington, Kentucky in January of 1957. He spent 30 years in various Quality Control, Staff, and Supplies Manufacturing positions in the Chemical Products Division. After retiring in January of 1987 he and his wife Frances Hunter Johnson moved to Herrington Lake in Danville, Kentucky. Along with family and friends he enjoyed life on Herrington Lake and wintered in New Smyrna Beach and St. Johns River in Deland, Florida. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Joyce Ann Johnson, his brother Jimmy Johnson, and brother-in-law Jerry Grant.
He is survived by his wife Frances Hunter Johnson, a son Alan Johnson, and daughters Terri (Jack) Kent, and Traci (Tony) Wilson. his step-daughters Liska Gray and Kim Scott, his grandchildren Jenna DeRousse, Cole DeRousse, Ashley Wilson (Will Briant), and Ryan (Tiffany) Wilson, step-grandchildren Alexis Gray, and Skylar Scott, and great-grandfather to Cameron Williams, Gabriel Hines, Jonathan Hines, Casey DeRousse, Taylor Cooley, Lucas Cooley, Savannah Briant, Asher Wilson, and Barron Wilson, and his sisters Janie Grant, and Renita Cox.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Monday, June 3, 2024, at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City. Visitation will be 1 – 3 p.m., Monday prior to the service.
