Two people were shot in Danville in the early morning on Sunday in separate locations, and the Danville Police Department is looking for information on the incidents.

On Sunday, June 9 at 2:51 a.m., Danville Police responded to a 911 hang up call at The Den, a private club located at 750 Dillehay Street.  Upon arrival, officers determined that gunshots had been fired.  No victim could be located, but evidence that a weapon had been fired was discovered.  

At 3:17 a.m., units responded to a residence on Mason Avenue for 37-year-old Justin Grey suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.  The subject was transported by Boyle County EMS to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center where he was treated and has since been released.  

Police determined that the victim was shot once while in his car in the parking lot of 750 Dillehay Street.  The incident remains under investigation. 

At 3:47 a.m., Danville Police responded to the 300 block of N. 5th Street for a shots fired call.  On arrival, police located a pickup truck that had crashed into the yard of a residence.  Police located 43-year-old Maurice Stitt in the driver’s seat suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  Aid was immediately rendered with assistance from Boyle County EMS and Danville City Fire.  

The victim was transported by Boyle County EMS to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.  Stitt was pronounced deceased just before 5:30 a.m.  Preliminary investigation determined that the victim was traveling on N. 5th Street when he encountered a volley of gunfire from suspect(s) standing on the west side of the street.  The victim attempted to flee in reverse before crashing. 

Danville Police were assisted at the scenes by Boyle County EMS, Danville City Fire, Boyle County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police, and Allen’s Towing.
