Pioneer Playhouse is hosting its big 75th Anniversary Gala this Saturday, June 15 from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

There will not be a regular show that night, just the gala at the playhouse. The gala will have live music, a catered dinner, dancing, and a bar serving alcohol to those 21 years and older.

Local band Michael Fly and the Sounds will play in the playhouse’s indoor theater. Comedian Joe Deuce will be the MC.

The Alumni weekend is starting Friday, when many alumni are invited to see “The 39 Steps” at Pioneer Playhouse that night.

Playhouse Manager Heather Henson said they invited alumni from all seasons over the 75 years. She said they’ve invited their more famous alumni, including John Travolta, but has not heard yet if he can attend.

At the gala, they’ll have alumni share memories of their time at the playhouse, and they will give out awards and door prizes.

There will also be a presentation with different speakers. They invited Danville Mayor James Atkins and Boyle County Judge Executive Trille Bottom to speak, as well as the state secretary of tourism.

Anyone in the community is invited to the gala, and Heather said they hope to have 300 people.

The dress code is fancy, and the theme is 1950s Hollywood glam. Heather said people could take inspiration from the “Raintree County” movie filmed in Danville in the 50s.

The cost of the gala is $75 per person and may be purchased online or through the box office. Heather said the event is also somewhat of a fundraiser for the playhouse.

The night is sponsored by Farmers National Bank.
