One person dead, one injured in Danville collision

Danville Police and emergency crews responded to the 800 block of Maple Avenue for an injury collision on Wednesday, June 19 at 5:30 p.m.

Preliminary investigation determined that a 2017 Toyota Rav4 was exiting the parking lot of Bob Allen Motor Mall onto Maple Avenue.  The driver, 32-year-old Andrew Stephens of Harrodsburg, did not see the 2001 Suzuki GSXR600 motorcycle traveling south on Maple Avenue.

The Rav4 entered the path of the motorcycle and they collided. Both operators attempted evasive maneuvers to avoid the collision but were unable to do so.

Stephens, nor his passengers were injured.  The operator of the motorcycle was identified as Christian Lindsay, 22, of Danville.  The motorcycle’s passenger was identified as Aubree Carroll, 19, of Salvisa.  Both were wearing helmets.

Lindsay and Carroll were transported from the scene by Boyle County EMS to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center and later flown to the University of Kentucky Hospital.  Lindsay remains hospitalized. Carroll died from her injuries.

Danville Police are continuing the investigation and were assisted at the scene by Boyle County EMS and Danville City Fire.
