Dear Editor, Last week, George Cunningham wrote a letter to the editor in which he outlined the many reasons he recently changed political parties. Modesty prevented him from telling his whole story.

Years ago, while registered in another party, George was an active contributor to Danville and Boyle County’s governmental and political process, serving as commissioner on the City Council. To honor him for his many years of dedicated service, the road into Millennium Park was named Cunningham Way. George has also been a stalwart in our community among his peers in many additional unseen ways, including civic organizations, his church, and quiet, unheralded support of young people in the community.

Few citizens of any age remain as active in contributing to society as George. His dedication to our local scene is truly an asset beyond measure. We of Boyle County Republican Party welcome George Cunningham into our fold.
