Mary G. Hogsett Elementary, Edna L. Toliver Elementary, Jennie Rogers Elementary, John W. Bate Middle School and Danville High School will each receive a $250 donation from the Walmart Foundation.

The Danville Schools will use the funds in a variety of ways.

Edna L. Toliver Elementary School will use the funds for their Leader in Me program.

Jennie Rogers Elementary will use the donation to fund celebrations to commemorate the school’s last year and the legacy of a building where countless children began their education. Students will receive a button to wear on the last day of school and an event for former students, teachers and community members will be planned.

At Mary G. Hogsett Elementary, staff will purchase hands-on math materials like manipulatives

and counters to engage students and increase their interest and enjoyment of mathematics. The school will also purchase classroom book sets.

Danville High School and John W. Bate Middle School plan to use the funds to reward students and staff at the end of the school year.

“From math to literature and so much more, this Walmart Foundation grant will touch the lives of Danville students in such a positive way,” said Dr. Keith Look, superintendent for the Danville Independent School District. “We’re thankful for their commitment to youth in the community.”

This is the fourth Walmart Foundation grant awarded to the Danville Schools.
