1924-2018

Ernest Holman, Sr., 93, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018.

He was born July 8, 1924, in Hamilton, Ohio, a son of the late Russell and Margaret Lee Reynolds Holman and was the husband of Gladys Carol Westerfield Holman for 70 years.

Mr. Holman was a member of the Church of God and was an auto mechanic for over 60 years. He retired after operating Holman’s Garage in Parksville. He enjoyed fishing and building racing engines and he attended the first General Motors School in Cincinnati learning how to work on automobile transmissions.

Mr. Holman was a PFC in the United States Army during World War II. He served in the European, African, and Middle Eastern Theaters and was a member of the 101st Infantry Regiment during the D-Day Invasion in Normandy, France and in the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes Forest.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Gladys, are two children, Ernest Wayne (Debbie) Holman, Gail Holman (Charlie Lee); two grandchildren, Cory Holman, Kelley Hammond; and four great-grandchildren, Grant and Avery Holman, Kendall and Maddy Hammond.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Laura Lee, Louvenia Lee, Glen, Bill, and Luther Holman.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 9, 2018 at Perryville Baptist Church with Sgt. Major Jack Tussey (Ret.) officiating. Burial will full military honors will be 12:30 p.m., at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 5 – 8:00 p.m., at Perryville Baptist Church.
