The Marquis Crossing Ladies Society’s First Attempt at Murder, March 9-11 and 16-18 at West T. Hill Community Theatre, 117 Larrimore Lane, Danville. An ensemble comedy about a ladies arts society who want to do a murder mystery fundraiser; however, they don’t want to pay the royalties for a previously written play. Starry Night Studios: The Ballerina, 6-9 p.m. Feb. 28. Instructed by Amanda Hendershot, this piece is the newest addition to our local masterpieces series for SNS, with the original painting created by Sarah Wiltsee for the 2017 “Expressions in Color” exhibit. For this class, students will be doing a slighly easier adaptation on a 12-inch square canvas. Cost is $35/person. From Velasquez to Bosch, and Rembrandt to Klimt, Matisse, Picasso and artists of the 21st century, the depiction of music, musical instruments, and musicians has been a favorite motif in painting. Time for Impressionism, noon-1 pm. Feb. 27 at CAC, Danville. Join Ken Keffer, Centre College Professor Emeritus of French and German for a highly-enjoyable “wasted” hour of arts appreciation! The “time” of Impressionist painting includes the hours of making, exhibiting and viewing the works; is also a theme in the paintings themselves. What is that theme? What is that time? It is the idleness of strolling, dancing and sitting in the afternoon and evening light.
