Mary Edith Gustafson Wilkirson

1948-2018

Mary Edith Gustafson Wilkirson, 69, of Lexington died February 20, 2018. 

She was born November 4, 1948, in Danville to the late Edwin and Betty Burnett Toombs and Malcolm and Mary Sims. She was a homemaker and operations officer at Bank of Lexington. A 1966 graduate of Danville High School, devoted member of Antioch Christian Church, she loved quilting, crocheting, and an avid cooker of onion sandwiches. Mary Edith was a mother to everyone she knew, a caregiver for her parents, mother-in-law, and brother.

She is survived by her husband, Don Wilkirson of Lexington; two sons, Robert L. (Joanna) Wilkirson and Steven E. (Kim) Wilkirson, both of Lexington; two brothers, Carl E. Gustafson of Louisville, Eddie L. (Linda) Gustafson “Gus” of Danville; and a sister-in-law, Ana Gustafson of Maryland; two grandchildren, Ashley Megan Wilkirson and Madison Nicole Wilkirson.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Friday, February 23, 2018 at Stith Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Mallory officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., Friday at Stith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
