Deborah Susan Battey

1954-2018

Deborah Susan Battey, 63, of Danville, passed away Friday, March 23, 2018 in Harrodsburg. 

She was born on May 17, 1954, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late Gordon and Norma Fowler Shipp. 

Surviving is her loving husband, Robert “Bob” Battey. Deborah was a speech pathologist, graduating from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois and receiving her master’s degree from Michigan State. She worked for many years in Racine, Wisconsin and retired from Garrard County Schools. Deborah was a faithful member of Indian Hills Christian Church. 

Also surviving is a step-son, James Robert Battey of Louisiana; a brother, Steven Shipp of Michigan; a sister, Cynthia Shipp Lister (Doug) of Iowa; three nephews, Jarrod Lister of Iowa, Kyle Shipp (Dianna) of North Carolina, and Andy Lister of Iowa; and two nieces, Stacey Shipp Brill (Richard) of Virginia and Katie Lister of Iowa. 

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister in law, Becky Shipp. Burial was in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
