Alpha Rankins McVickers

1923-2018

Alpha Rankins McVickers, 95, passed away Wednesday March 28, 2018. She was born in Winchester, Kentucky on March 26, 1923, one of eight children of the late Elby and Nannie Estes Rankins. She and her late husband, Harry M. McVicker were married 67 years when he passed in 2013.

Alpha was passionate about her church, family and flower gardening. She retired from Family Planning as an Outreach worker and later worked in Environmental Health. Alpha was a longtime member of Perryville Christian Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Connie McVicker, three grandchildren, Scott Smith, Amy (Clark) Bradshaw, Willy McVicker, five great-grandsons, Mac and Kyle Bradshaw, Tyler, Austin, and Weston Smith, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Alpha was preceded in death by her son, Bill McVicker; three brothers; and four sisters.

The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday April 3, 2018 at Perryville Christian Church 205 E. 3rd Street Perryville, KY 40468 with Rev. Joe Hood and Dr. Mike Gatton officiating. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m., at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. 

Visitation will be Monday April 2, 2018 from 5 – 8:00 p.m., and Tuesday April 3rd from 9:00 a.m., at Perryville Christian Church.

Pallbearers will be Scott, Austin, and Weston Smith, Clark, Mac and Kyle Bradshaw, Robbie Mayes, and Frankie Emerson. Honorary bearer will be Tyler Smith
