Becker and Smiley for Danville school board

I am writing in support of Steve Becker and Paul Smiley for Danville Independent Schools Board of Education. Steve Becker is currently on the board, having served two terms previously and Paul Smiley having served during three terms. During their years of service, the schools experienced strength and stability as one of the most financially well managed systems in the state while expanding educational offerings and services to our students.

Both have been active, visible and available in school life as parents and volunteers. As board members they always listened to the concerns of staff, citizens and the children, never forgetting that the schools’ mission is to work for what is best for the whole system and the community in which it exists.

I have worked on the board with both of these men. They demonstrated a commitment to, and understanding of, the appropriate role of a school board member. They were always well-prepared and informed on the state and local issues which affect our schools and students.

The most important job of a school board member is to set policies and support programs which will ensure each student is educated and prepared for a successful future. Steve Becker and Paul Smiley are leaders who have demonstrated they are prepared for this job.

I support Steve Becker and Paul Smiley for Danville School Board on Nov. 6.
