Garden club get-together

The Garden Club of Danville is preparing for its 54th Green Tea at the Ephraim McDowell House on Sunday, Dec. 2. The house will be decorated for the holidays and open for touring. At the club’s November meeting, members learned how to make arrangements of winter greenery, berries, fruit and dried material that would have been available in the early 19th century when the McDowell family lived in the house. Three club members created arrangements while Linda Taylor, who is directing the tea this year, explained holiday decorating traditions of the period.  Speakers for the meeting were, from left, Linda Taylor, Fran Halloran, Jennifer Shevlin and Carol Seidel. The tea is open to the public at no charge, with donations accepted for the Salvation Army and Family Services of Boyle County. For details, visit thegardenclubofdanville.org.
