Horace Ray Grubbs

1943-2018

Horace Ray Grubbs, 75, of Moreland, passed away Saturday, December 8 at home surrounded by those he loved.

He was born on February 23, 1943, in Danville and was the son of the late William Horace and Mae Belle Grubbs. He was retired from Corning Glass, owned and operated Ray’s Liquor Mart, and enjoyed working with his son, Nelson, in Grubbs Body Shop. Ray was also a member of Junction City First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Phyllis Ann Bodner Grubbs; his son, Nelson Ray Grubbs of Moreland; his daughter, Tanya Leann (Joe) Martin of Lexington; one brother, Robert Grubbs of Versailles; and five grandchildren, Colton Ray and Madelyn Grubbs and Evan, Seth, and Adam Martin.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Billie Jean Lair; and two brothers, Joe and Donald Grubbs.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Hustonville Cemetery by Bro. Brad King. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Nelson Grubbs, Colton Grubbs, Wayne Grubbs, Eddie Grubbs, Paul Douglas Bodner, Evan Martin, and Jeannie Gayle Hurst. Honorary pallbearers are Madelyn Grubbs and Seth and Adam Martin. There is guestbook available at www.wlpruitt.com.
