Elain Pearl DuBose was born July 2, 1915 in Newport, Maine to the late Perley Everett and Elfie M Leanard Soule. She departed this life Monday, March 11, 2019 at the Harrodsburg Health and Rehab Center in Harrodsburg, Ky., having attained the age of 103 years, eight months and nine days.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Presbyterian Church. She was working as a civil servant in the War Department in Washington, DC when Pearl Harbor was attacked. She was a descendant of George Soule, who came over on the Mayflower in 1620 and landed at Plymouth Rock.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Reginald DuBose; son-in-law, the Rev. L. Dwight Forderhase; one sister, Thelma S. Buck; and brother-in-law, Roland Buck.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Regina A. Taylor and her husband the Rev. Charles L. Taylor of Danville; a brother, Erwin S. Soule and his wife Gloria of Bar Harbor, Maine; grandchildren, K.M. Luck and Ashley Luck Godsey and her husband Matthew D. Godsey; step granddaughters, Rebekah Taylor and Mary Wise and her husband Luke; great grandchildren, Olivia and Wyatt Godsey; step great granddaughters, Ellie and Lilly Wise and Madie and Gracie Gebler; plus a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be 2 p.m. Eastern Time until 5 p.m. Eastern Time, Sunday, March 17, 2019 at the home of Regina and the Rev. Charles Taylor, 103 Old Bridge Road, Danville, Ky. All family and friends are invited to stop by.

Cremation was chosen.

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy be donations to Harrodsburg Health and Rehab Residents Fund. These can be mailed or taken to 853 Lexington Road, Harrodsburg, KY 40330 or to Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, 209 W. Court St., Greensburg, KY 42743
