Joan C. Cooley, 86, died Thursday, March 28, 2019. Born August 19, 1932, in Danville, she was the daughter of the late David “Mac” McMurty and Edith Farmer Preston Caldwell. Joan attended Junction City High School. She was a homemaker, operated the family farm and had a paper route. Joan was the widow of Carl “June” Sinkhorn and the widow of Clarence Alvin “Al” Cooley whom she lovingly cared for during a long illness.

She was also predeceased by an infant son, David Lee Sinkhorn; a brother, Arthur Caldwell; and a sister, Nancy Preston LeMay. She was a strong woman who never lost her love of her family and life but told them recently she had been strong long enough.

She is survived by her children, Teresa Sinkhorn McGhee, Carl “Bozo” (Janice) Sinkhorn, Betty Jo Sinkhorn (Mike) Carter, Joe Woody (Kyla) Carter, Mike (Terri) Cooley, Tim (Teresa) Cooley, Joe (Lisa) Cooley, Chris (Barbie) Cooley, and Amy (Peter Grigsby) Cooley; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be 1 p.m., Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
