Betty Sawyer

1945-2019

Betty Sawyer, 73, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2019. She was born in Berea, Kentucky on November 23, 1945 to the late James Luther “Rip” and Ida Mae Dees VanWinkle and was the widow of Donald “Don” Sawyer.

Betty was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family, listening to the Dees family play music, and dearly loved going fishing with her husband, Don.

Survivors include two sons, Buck (Angie) Sawyer, Ronnie (Trina) Sawyer; seven grandchildren, Alysha Henderson, Erika Lee, Chelsea Sawyer, Heather and Cruz Hasty, Bryan and Mike Wethington; four great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Marie Phillips, Irene Powell, Starlin and Alan VanWinkle.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Wethington.

The funeral service will be 12:00 p.m., (noon) Saturday April 13, 2019 at Walden Funeral Home Perryville with Doug Thacker officiating. Burial will follow in Parksville Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, April 12, 2019 from 7 – 9:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

Betty’s siblings will serve as pallbearers.
