Our featured pets for this week are Amber and Bailey.

Amber is a beautiful 1-year-old gray tabby that was found as a stray hanging around an apartment complex. She is a friendly girl, so it’s reasonable to believe that she once had a home. Amber has a sweet disposition without being the needy type. She’s content with a soft bed and occasional petting. Amber has been spayed and recently moved into one of our kitty condo areas with several other cats. She is adjusting fine, but she’d love to take that next step and settle in with a family of her own.

Bailey is a darling 6-month-old shepherd mix puppy. She’s a pretty golden brown and white with tri-color markings on her face. Bailey weighs about 30 pounds and is still growing. This girl is very sweet and has never met a stranger. Bailey also is a bundle of energy. She needs a home where she will get plenty of exercise and structured training. Bailey has so much love to offer, she just needs that special person who is willing to devote the time and energy to help her reach her full potential.

Did you know that about 10 million cats and dogs in the United States find themselves lost each year? The majority of these stray pets wind up in the shelter system. Many of these animals have no form of identification to help them get home quickly. A collar with an ID tag, rabies tag and county license tag for dogs should be worn by pets. But collars can be lost or owners forget to put them on after bathing their pets. A permanent method of identification is the placement of a microchip under the skin near the pet’s shoulder blades. Most veterinary clinics provide microchipping services and it is well worth the money spent. Remember that it is important to keep your contact information current with the microchip company.
